The feed supplements sold by Farm@nutrition can neither be identified as complete feed products, neither as medical products. The supplements are applied as temporary support of the animal’s physical condition.

A decrease in the physical condition of farm animals doesn’t always need a veterinarian intervention because of the lack of a clear health problem indication. Solving the problem by means of an adaption of the feed composition is neither an option because it’s too time consuming. A fast and efficient farm-based approach is needed.

Farm@nutrition continuously works on improving this approach by developing products for specific and temporary support, so farm animals can function optimally with a maximum level of well-being. This will ultimately benefit everyone: the animals, the farmer and the consumer.

The demand for this approach to solve function disorders is created by 2 trends related to our industrial agriculture:

1) The genetic properties of our farm animals have been pushed into the direction of higher performance (better growth, more milk, more eggs, higher fertility, etc.). This situation causes higher sensitivity, higher nutritional demands, lower immunity and lower reserves.

2) The industrial production of crops and the use of plant cultivars with high gains leads to raw materials with lower density of nutrients. Moreover, industrial handling and storage of raw materials ask for components that are stable. Therefore a lot of essential nutrients (very important for high productive animals), such as sensitive fatty acids, trace elements, vitamins and vegetable anti-oxidants are banished.

The feed industry is trying to solve this contradiction by enriched feed, but is not able to fulfill temporary higher functional demands or temporary support needs. This leads to the fact that the genetic expression of our farm animals can not develop optimally, because of the restraining act of nutritional and immune deficiencies, gut-dysbiosis, presence of endogenic toxins, etc.

The observation of such problems and the choice of the right supporting supplements can avoid a lot of discomfort for the animals and a considerable financial loss on behalf of the farmer.
